Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) has played an increasingly important part in security in
recent years, and many businesses employ CCTV systems of one sort or another.
However, some CCTV systems require you to visit the site to collect the recordings after an
event, and these recordings are often of variable quality. Such systems only allow for action
to be taken reactively, after the horse has bolted, so to speak. You can’t access the footage
at the few clicks of a button, just when you need it, so valuable time is wasted in retrieving
information and in investigating incidents. Also, some of these recordings when saved to
disks (or even tapes, yikes) can be prone to corruption, meaning you won’t necessarily have
a recording that is fit for purpose.
